BONCHON CHICKEN IN LEESBURG MYSTERIOUSLY CLOSES

The store went dark in the past week or so.

The Bonchon Chicken restaurant at the Village at Leesburg has closed down under mysterious circumstances. A sign on the door reads “SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. CLOSED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES.”

What’s strange is that the restaurant is still listed as in operation on the Village at Leesburg website, on the store’s Facebook page, on Yelp and even on the Bonchon brand’s main website. Perhaps they are just closed temporarily due to a family emergency. But normally, there would be a message to this effect at the store and/or online.

A spokeswoman for the Village at Leesburg said she had no information to share regarding the restaurant.

Bonchon specializes in Korean fried chicken. The company is based in South Korea and has more than 80 locations in the United States. Locally, there is a Bonchon in Sterling and another in South Riding. An employee at the Sterling store told The Burn the stores have different owners and they knew the Leesburg location had closed, but didn’t know why.

I got severe food poisoning from this place. Should be closed for good.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t for health code violations. Staff seemed incredibly lazy when it came to cleaning. Floor was nasty and my shoes literally stuck to the floor in places as we walked to our table. If the service area was in such bad shape I could only imagine what their cooking area looked like.

I went in there one time. Food was good, but they were playing rap music with all the curse words still in it.

Surprising. Excellent food. Service can be hit or miss for sure, Happily, I live only a couple miles from the Sterling location, and will continue to get my fix there.

The store now has a Notice of Eviction on the door from the Loudoun County Sheriff Department.
