Leesburg TGI Fridays to be demolished for new Chili’s

Big news on the local restaurant scene as plans come to light to tear down the existing TGI Fridays restaurant in Leesburg and replace it with a new Chili’s Grill & Bar.

That’s the word from plans filed with Loudoun County.

The TGI Fridays at 235 Fort Evans Road NE was built way back in 1999 — making it 25 years old this year. But it’s unclear how much more time the roughly 4,500 s.f. restaurant has.

The new plans call for the TGI Fridays to be razed and a 5,100 s.f. Chili’s building to go up in its place. There would be some modifications to the parking lot, but the landscaping around the property and parking lot would remain the same.

The Leesburg TGI Fridays is the only one in Loudoun County. The next closest is the Fridays at the Worldgate Centre in Herndon. There is a Chili’s Grill & Bar in Sterling off Atlantic Boulevard.

The Leesburg plans are still in the “pre submittal” phase — meaning the developers want to meet with county officials to get all the details in order before formally starting the application, permitting, and construction process.
