Something afoot at former Longhorn Steakhouse in Sterling

We’ve got a bit of a mystery on our hands today. We are trying to figure out what is happening over at the former Longhorn Steakhouse by the Dulles Town Center shopping mall.

We have learned that something called Aria Restaurant is going to be using the space, and separately, we saw it referred to as Aria Kabob Banquet. But we can’t find any details on what this facility might be — beyond those names.

Meanwhile, we went and looked in the window and — sure enough — there were banquet-style tables set up. The interior also appears to have been painted and other decor changes made.

We’ve reached out to one of the people involved in the project, but haven’t gotten a response yet, so we still aren’t quite sure what we are dealing with.

Is this purely a banquet hall to be rented out for special events — or is it also going to be a full service restaurant of some sort, possibly featuring kabobs on the menu.

Time will tell. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, the new owner of the Dulles Town Center recently proposed upwards of 1,000 residential housing units around the mall, which could eliminate most of these outparcels like the one where the Longhorn building sits. But that plan isn’t a done deal yet — and even if it is — it will likely be years before it comes to fruition.
