After months of waiting, Wawa has officially announced an opening date for their first location in Loudoun County. The big day is Friday, June 23.
According to Wawa’s corporate HQ, the new convenience store will open at 8 a.m. and there will be a ribbon cutting celebration at 10 a.m.
As most people know, the Pennsylvania-based company has been growing rapidly on the East Coast and the Wawa brand is famous for its hoagie sandwiches and the unusual level of loyalty felt by customers. In some small towns, the opening of a Wawa is big news, drawing people from miles around. That very well may happen here in Loudoun.
The new location is in Sterling, just west of the Loudoun-Fairfax county line. The address is 23055 Oakgrove Road. The new building has been completed and the gas pumps have been in place for months, but we’re told some red tape delayed the opening which was originally expected in May.
In related news, a new Sheetz convenience store is getting ready to open just a mile or so west of the Wawa location, setting up an epic battle of the uber-convenience stores.
we can use both of them
