The new ALDI supermarket in the Broadlands Village Center is scheduled to officially open Thursday, Nov. 9 with a big grand opening ceremony. And they will be giving away free gift cards to the first 100 customers.
“To celebrate the opening of the new Ashburn store, ALDI, one of America’s favorite grocery stores, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:50 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 9,” the company said in a statement. “Following the ceremony, the first 100 customers will receive a Golden Ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards of various amounts.”
The Burn first broke the news back in March that ALDI was coming to the Broadlands space. Since then, the store has been under construction, including an entirely new facade. A peek through the windows show the store is already being set up with signage, stocked freezers and so forth. No word on when the actual big ALDI sign will be installed, but we hear the permits have been issued, so it must be soon.
The new ALDI store has taken over part of the former Safeway space. It’s an interesting time in Ashburn as a new Lidl supermarket prepares to open just a few hundred yards away on the other side of Claiborne Parkway. Both ALDI and Lidl are low priced grocers that have long been competitors overseas and both are aggressively expanding in the U.S.
