SLAPFISH TARGETS JUNE OPENING AT ONE LOUDOUN

The company officially announced the news today.

Quick update — last week, The Burn broke the news that the fast-casual seafood restaurant Slapfish was looking to come to One Loudoun. Today, we got confirmation it’s happening.

The company officially announced they’re planning to open in One Loudoun in June. The local operation will be co-owned by brothers Mike and Phil Nguyen.

“With our close proximity to Maryland and the coast, seafood is a big deal for locals, yet surprisingly, there is a major lack of quality offerings in the market,” said co-Mike Nguyen in a statement sent to The Burn. “One Loudoun is a rapidly expanding area, and we are confident that residents will fall in love with Slapfish, just as we did.”

The brothers have plans to open at least four more locations around Northern Virginia. The One Loudoun Slapfish will be the 12 location nationwide and the first on the East Coast. You can check out Slapfish’s interesting menu here.

As long as we have Ford’s Fish Shack, there is not “a major lack of quality offerings in the market”. Mr. Nguyen, just because there aren’t seafood restaurants on every corner like burger joints, Indian Restaurants, Chinese Restaurants, etc. doesn’t mean there aren’t quality offerings. Fords has had Ashburn covered for a long time now.

Bonefish Grill has been open for several years as well.

I took it to mean no “fast casual” offerings! No wait staff needed…

Why fast food instead nice local restaurants like Ford Fish Shack, Blue Ridge grill, and Opa! mezze grill? Leesburg downtown has so many nice locally owned restaurants.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of Slapfish. A MUCH needed casual seafood place in Ashburn; but there are no signs of construction and the Virginia location is not listed on their website. Any updates?

We have wondered about that too. But it’s still listed on a One Loudoun page as coming and a few weeks back, I contacted the company HQ and they said it was still happening. Not sure what the hang up is but we know restaurants always take longer than expected.
