DC REGION’S FIRST TRU BY HILTON HOTEL COULD BE COMING TO ONE LOUDOUN

The center has long had a hotel in its plans.

We’ve long known that a hotel was part of the plans for One Loudoun and now we may have our first idea of what type of lodging will be coming.

The Burn has learned that a local hotel developer is looking to open a Tru by Hilton hotel at the popular Ashburn lifestyle center. It’s slated to go up at the intersection of Atwater Drive and Endicott Drive.

The Tru brand was launched by Hilton back in 2016 and is targeting the mid-scale hotel market. The concept includes a lobby known as “The Hive” with areas for eating, working, playing and lounging.

Based on the Tru website, there appear to be four Tru by Hilton hotels in Virginia. The closest one currently to Northern Virginia is down Interstate 81 in Staunton.

Based on documents we’ve seen, we think the Tru deal is official, but being it’s late on Friday, we haven’t reached any of the parties involved yet. We’ve got messages in seeking more information.

My partner and I make the trek to Amish country every fall/winter for Christmas shopping. On our 2017 trip we stayed at the Tru in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It reminded us of the Nordic budget hotels we sometimes had to stay at in Norway, and NOT in a good way. Small rooms, hard floors, hard BEDS, and zero storage (seriously, there was no closet in our room, just an eight-inch-wife cubby with a rod for hanging *maybe* our two jackets and that’s about it). Not a fan.
