Rebel Taco Cantina, the eagerly awaited new Mexican restaurant in Brambleton, is moving forward as we speak. Construction is underway and we have a tentative timeline to opening.
The news is going to be music to the ears of many Ashburn area residents. The status of Rebel Taco and when it was coming has been the No. 1 question we’ve received in recent weeks here at The Burn HQ.
We first broke the news on this page back in April 2021. Rebel Taco, a DC-based brand with a handful of locations around DC and one in Philly, was bringing its street tacos and tequila concept to the Brambleton Town Center. They are taking the space with a large outdoor patio adjacent to and under the Brambleton Public Library.
Like so many other businesses, permitting and supply issues slowed the timeline a bit over the past year, but now things are rolling. Workers are in the space. The concrete floor has been poured. Walls are going up.
The menu offers up plenty of fun tacos — the Shrimp Gone Wild taco, the Get Shorty taco, the You Guac My World taco and more. There are also burritos, nachos and quesadillas. The drink menu includes margaritas, sangrias and other favorites. You can see the full menu of the U Street location below.
The Burn spoke with one of the owners who said — in a perfect world — they would like to be open by March. But opening a restaurant is often a moving target. If March doesn’t happen, they definitely want to be open sometime this spring.
