Watch Ashburn teen wow the judges on NBC’s “The Voice”

(UPDATED) A Loudoun County teenager appeared on NBC’s “The Voice” last night, Tuesday, March 14 — and her performance was shared by the program online.

In the video from the popular musical reality show, Mary Kate Connor sings an amazing rendition of “Stars” by the group Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. Mary Kate, 17, is a senior at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn.

Judges Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton both turned their chairs for Mary Kate — meaning they wanted her on their teams.

“I loved how beautiful and tender it was. Usually people slide into it to make it a bit easier so they don’t sound pitchy and you just like nailed it, like dead on, like a younger Brandi Carlile,” Clarkson said.

“North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia there’s a thing that happens up there and it’s an Americana thing and you can hear it in your approach because you do swing for the fence with that song,” Shelton said, calling her voice “very soft and angelic.”

The clip ends before Mary Kate announces her choice, but we can report she ultimately chose Team Blake.

“I think I’m dreaming. I can’t believe that this is happening,” the Ashburn teen said.

Congratulations Mary Kate, from everyone in Ashburn and Loudoun County and best of luck this season!

“The Voice” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
