A bizarre turn of events after a report today that Sunday’s shooting at the Dulles Town Center shopping mall stemmed from a YouTube prank video.
According to WUSA9, the local CBS affiliate in Washington, 21-year-old Tanner Cook was recording some sort of prank video to post to his YouTube channel.
The prank led to an altercation with Alan Colie, 31, in the mall’s food court. At some point, police say Colie pulled a gun and shot Cook.
According to the TV station, the bullet pierced Cook’s stomach and liver and he had to have surgery. He is currently in intensive care.
Colie, who lives in Leesburg, has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a building.
