A new boutique fitness center is moving into the Cascades Overlook center in Sterling. It’s called Body 20 and gym-goers wear a vest that uses electrical impulses to maximize the workout.
It’s more properly called “an FDA-Cleared electro-muscle stimulation suit,” according to the brand’s website.
It goes on to say: “In just a 20-minute training session, your personal trainer will put you through a customized 1-on-1 program, giving your body over 150 times more muscle contractions than a conventional workout without any need to pick up a weight or use traditional gym equipment.”
Body 20 is a growing franchise brand with locations open or in the works in more than 20 states. Sterling should be the first Virginia location, but additional centers are in the works for Falls Church and Oakton.
At Cascades Overlook, Body 20 has taken a roughly 1,700 s.f. spot in between Shred415 — another boutique fitness facility — and Pet Depot, a pet supply store. It’s expected to open sometime in June.
Note: Body 20 shouldn’t be confused with WB20 (or Whole Body 20) — a different fitness brand based on similar concepts that has a location in Ashburn.
