Big news for fans of the Wawa convenience store brand and its signature hoagies/sub sandwiches. A new location is in the works for Loudoun County — albeit just barely.
Wawa is apparently coming to the Loudoun Crossroads development under construction off Route 50.
The news is something of a surprise because the spot had previously been earmarked for a 7-Eleven. No word on what led to the switcheroo.
We say “barely” Loudoun because the new commercial plaza is going up at 50 and the intersection with Pleasant Valley Road, which is right by the border with neighboring Fairfax County.
There are two other Wawas currently open in Loudoun. One is just off State Road 28 at Gloucester Parkway. The other is located at Old Ox Road and Oakgrove Road. That is also right at the border with Fairfax.
The company was also exploring a location just east of the intersection of Route 50 and Loudoun County Parkway. No word on the status of that store.
The Wawa at Loudoun Crossroads is predicted to open sometime in the summer of 2024.
Meanwhile, the new Silver Diner restaurant going up at the site should open this coming summer. So should a Popeyes fried chicken restaurant that is also slated for the property.
