A new location of the Wingstop restaurant chain is reportedly in the works for a shopping center in Herndon.
According to information from the leasing agency, the popular chicken wing brand is going into a spot in the Herndon Centre off Elden Street.
Wingstop is taking a roughly 1,600 s.f. spot near the end of the center next door to a Nothing Bundt Cakes shop. The space used to be part of an urgent care clinic.
You could be forgiven if you aren’t familiar with Wingstop. Founded in 1994 in Texas, there are now more than 1,400 locations in the chain. However, there aren’t very many here in Northern Virginia.
One opened in Sterling off Route 7 a decade ago, and there are a few scattered about in Manassas, Alexandria, and elsewhere.

The brand offers bone-in and boneless wings as well as chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches. These can be doused in a variety of sauces including Hot Honey Rub, Mango Habanero, and Atomic.
Sides include Louisiana Voodoo Fries, Buffalo Ranch Fries, and Cajun Fried Corn. You can see the menu for the Sterling Wing Stop here.
No word so far on when construction will start or when the owners hope to open the new location. We have messages in to Wingstop HQ and the leasing company for more details.
