It’s always sad news when a restauranteur decides to close his or her business. We’ve learned that today is the last day for A Taste of Burma in Sterling.
The restaurant has been a staple of the community for nearly 18 years. It’s located in the Countryside Marketplace shopping center near Route 7 and Countryside Boulevard.
“It is with humble gratitude and a heavy heart that we announce the closing of A Taste of Burma restaurant,” reads an announcement posted to social media. “This has been a very difficult and emotional decision and we are so sad to say goodbye.”
The restaurant is throwing a farewell party today — Saturday, July 1 — from 12 noon to 6 p.m. There will be free food and they will also be taking donations.
At the event, the restaurant will also be selling off Burmese art and decor from the dining room for fans who want to have a keepsake to take home.
No word what might replace A Taste of Burma in the 1,600 s.f. space. Several new restaurants are in the works for other spots in Countryside Marketplace, including Khan BBQ & Cajun Seafood and Naz’s Halal Food.
