When you think of lasers, you may picture the bad guys in Star Wars firing their laser guns at Luke, Han, and Chewbacca. But there’s a different kind of laser that is all about helping people heal and feel better. And the Integrated Healthcare Centers location in South Riding has one that is doing wonders for patients.
It’s called Class 4 Laser Therapy — a painless and safe therapy that penetrates deep into the body allowing it to pass energy to the nerve, muscle, ligament, and tendon tissue in a short amount of time.
The laser stimulates the production of ATP — or adenosine triphosphate — which drives many of the processes within our cells. This increased production of ATP helps speed up the healing process inside cells. As a result of increased ATP production, the patient experiences an improvement of symptoms, including reduced pain, reduced swelling, and increased range of motion. And don’t forget that the heat from the laser is soothing as well.
“It works extremely well for chronic neck and back pain, pain due to herniated or bulging discs in the spine, sciatica or other nerve pain and tingling,” said Dr. Vishal Verma, a chiropractor and founder of Integrated Healthcare Centers. “It can also be used on shoulders, knees, and other joints for pain due to arthritis.”
Dr. Verma says one of the most frequent uses for his patients is pre- or post-surgery to promote a healing response and boost circulation to the affected area increasing regenerative response.
Integrated Healthcare Centers first opened its doors in 2017. They have two locations. One is in South Riding location on Pinebrook Road. That’s the office that currently offers the Class 4 Laser Therapy as well as a full range of chiropractic and physical therapy services. IHC has a second location in Ashburn at Loudoun Station.
