Historic Leesburg Diner reopening with new look, new menu

The historic Leesburg Diner in downtown Leesburg is reopening under new ownership — and it’s gotten a refresh and a new menu to boot.

The diner is located at 9 South King Street in the heart of the downtown. It’s reportedly been a restaurant of one kind or another since the 1865. It’s been known as the Leesburg Diner for roughly the last decade.

In July, the previous owners sold the restaurant and it shut down temporarily while the new owners revamped things.

This includes a new coat of brighter paint, new subway tiles, and some new handmade high top tables. But fear not — many of the historic elements and decor in the diner have been preserved.

Meanwhile, the menu has had some changes — giving it a more traditional American diner focus. This includes things like omelets, a pastrami sandwich, and some new burger options.

An espresso machine has also been added for an expanded coffee service. You can check out the full menu at the end of this article.

The new owners aren’t newbies. They own Cafe Kindred, a breakfast and lunch spot over in Falls Church. Many of the new menu items in Leesburg were inspired by successful dishes from Cafe Kindred.

The official opening of the new Leesburg Diner is scheduled for next week, likely Tuesday, October 10.

However, if you go by this week and spot the open light turned on, don’t be surprised. They’re holding a soft opening of sorts in order to test out all their systems and give their staff some training before the official launch.
