Los Carnales Tex Mex taking former Picante spot in Chantilly

A new Tex Mex restaurant is in the works for the Route 50 corridor in Chantilly. It will be called Los Carnales Tex Mex Grill and it’s taking over the spot that was previously the Picante Mexican restaurant.

The closure of Picante in July created buzz in the area because it had been a staple of the local restaurant scene for nearly 30 years.

But the good news — as reported by The Burn at the time — was that a new restaurant was already in the works for the spot.

Now we know it is Los Carnales, located at the intersection of Highway 50 and Airline Parkway.

The word “carnales” is Mexican slang for a friend so close, he or she is like part of your family. Think of it as something like “The Bros” or “The Brothers.”

The extensive menu at Los Carnales will feature just about anything you can think of in the Tex Mex genre. There will be burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and chimichangas. There will also be steak, chicken, and seafood dishes.

No word yet on when Los Carnales will open. The sign out front says “Coming Soon” and construction is underway inside the space. We have a message into the restaurant’s management for more details.
