You heard it first on The Burn and now the official word has arrived — the popular DC-area chain Taco Bamba has confirmed they are expanding into Loudoun County.
The new restaurant will be moving into the Cascades Marketplace shopping center in Sterling. It will take over the space at at 20968 Southbank Street that was previously a Baja Fresh restaurant many years ago.
The Burn first broke the Taco Bamba news last month. Even though we knew it was in the works, the powers-that-be wouldn’t confirm it at the time. Now they have.
“Taco Bamba, which made its debut ten years ago in a modest Falls Church strip mall, will continue its westward march next fall in a 3,000 square-foot corner unit in the Cascades Marketplace shopping center,” the announcement out this morning reads. “Taco Bamba’s first location in Loudoun County, one of the restaurant’s most requested regions for expansion, will feature outdoor seating and a full-service mezcal bar.”
As we’ve been reporting, this is just the latest coup for Willard Retail, which is handing leasing at Cascades Marketplace.
The center — which has struggled with vacancies for many years — has recently signed Shake Shack, CHIKO, and now Taco Bamba — all coveted brands in the DC market. The center is also home to Local Provisions, a locally-owned scatch kitchen restaurant that has become very popular.
Taco Bamba has 12 locations currently — primarily in the DMV, but also one in North Carolina. It has more locations in the pipeline including Richmond and Nashville.
The menu at Taco Bamba features a large variety of traditional tacos as well as the brand’s own special tacos. There are tortas, quesadillas, ceviche, breakfast dishes, churros and more.
Taco Bamba also offers beer, wine, and a full bar with cocktails including margaritas and sangrias. Each Taco Bamba location has some variations to its menu and some unique dishes. You can check out a sample menu here.
