The planned grand opening of a new Mediterranean restaurant in Ashburn has been delayed. Efesus Cafe did not open on Tuesday as planned.
Regular readers may remember our reporting on the closure of the Oxus 7 Turkish restaurant off Ashburn Road in Old Ashburn and the plans for a new restaurant serving Turkish, Greek, and other cuisines to take its place.
The website for Efesus Cafe (also called just plain Efesus and sometimes Ephesus) had a big announcement of a grand opening on January 2.
There was even a countdown clock ticking down to the big day. But the clock has reached zero and — crickets.
We reached out to the owners and they told us that they were unfortunately held up due to permitting delays at the county level. They are waiting for their permits and — once in place — they will be ready to open.
When it opens, diners will find dishes such as lamb and chicken kabobs, pasta and seafood, mezze plates, baklava, and more. You can see the Efesus Cafe menu below.
