A little bit of good news and a little bit of bad news for local pickleball fans. Loudoun County’s first dedicated indoor pickleball facility is going to be delayed, but it’s for a good reason.
The folks bringing Village Pickle to the Village at Leesburg center have announced that they are reworking their plans in order to create higher ceilings over the courts and improve game play.
Originally, the facility’s ceilings were going to be 12-foot, 6-inches at the lowest point. The rendering at the top of this story shows how it may have looked at that height.
Now — with the new architecture — the ceilings will be approximately 18-feet high.
“We have been thrilled with the enthusiasm and excitement we’ve received since we announced Village Pickle coming to Village at Leesburg,” said Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro, CEO of USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation, in a statement. “When we were recently informed that we had the opportunity to raise the ceilings if we adjusted our target opening date, we knew our members and guests would benefit greatly.”
The Village Pickle team had hoped to welcome players on the first four courts sometime this month but, with the new work needed on the ceilings, the opening is being pushed until March. An additional four courts are expected to be added later this year.
