Loudoun County officials recently released an update on the progress over at the Ashburn Recreation Center under construction off Broadlands Boulevard.
The walls of both the competition swimming pool and the leisure swimming pool have been completed. Concrete has been poured for the pool decks and the bleachers.
Outside, the buiding’s exterior sheathing has been installed as have skylights in the roof.
Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and ductwork are ongoing throughout the project and the final roofing and interior wall panels should all be installed in the coming weeks.
When finished, the 117,000 s.f. two-story center will feature two swimming pools, a full-size gym, a playroom, a multipurpose room with a kitchen, classrooms, meeting spaces and more.
Outside, there will be a trail around the property, a playground and a splash play area.
The Ashburn Recreation Center is currently scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025. Then the Loudoun parks department will take it over to prepare it for opening.
