Earlier this month, Loudoun Cares held their annual Outstanding Volunteer awards ceremony and The Burn was proud to be the sponsor of the Outstanding Veteran Volunteer award.
It was presented by The Burn’s Steve Dennen and awarded to David Chinn, who is a Volunteer Crew Lead with Leesburg Habitat for Humanity.

The event was held at Fleur de Cuisine in Lansdowne and volunteers across a wide range of categories were recognized for their service.
The event included two marquee service awards that were presented. The Judy Hines Service of a Lifetime Award, which was given to Richard Payne for his work with Knights of Columbus and the Loudoun County Commission on Aging.
The Gabriella Miller Youth Award was given to Nicole Smith, whose contributions to Women Giving Back include sorting through clothing donations, stocking and organizing the boutique, and helping women in crisis.
The latter award is named in honor of Gabriella Miller, a 10-year old Loudoun resident who started the well-known local non-profit Smashing Walnuts in order to raise awareness about childhood brain cancer after she was diagnosed with the disease. She passed away in 2013.
