Knead Wine opening Purcellville location this summer

A popular wine shop and pizza place in Middleburg has announced it is opening a new — and larger — location in Purcellville sometime this summer.

It’s called Knead Wine and it’s coming to The Shops at Main & Maple retail center. That’s the plaza at the corner of of East Main Street and North Maple Avenue (naturally).

Knead Wine opened its first location on West Washington Street in Middleburg in the summer of 2020. It quickly made a name for itself both for its highly curated selection of fine wines as well as its amazing handmade pizzas.

The proprietor — Jarad Slipp — also owns the nearby Tremolo Bar wine bar just down the street. He’s  one of only about 270 master sommeliers in the world — so he knows his wine.

The new location in Purcellville with be much larger than the one in Middleburg. In Middleburg, there is no dining room and the focus is on carry out pizzas.

In Purcellville, Knead will have more than 2,000 s.f. and a dining room that will seat 50. Plus there will be an outside patio with seating for another 16.

The new Knead will also offer an expanded menu that includes salads and other light bites, plus their signature chocolate chip cookies, and soft serve ice cream.

There will be wine, beer, and frosé (frozen rosé) on the drink menu. Guests will also be able to pick a bottle off the retail shelf, and opt for a cellar temperature version to enjoy on the spot with dinner if they would like.

We asked, but there is no firm date for opening. At this point, they are just saying sometime this summer.
