Work begins on Loudoun’s newest Chipotle restaurant

It’s the news folks in the South Riding area have been waiting for. Construction work has started on the site that will become the community’s first Chipotle restaurant.

The spot is next to the Walmart store in the Dulles Landing shopping center. That’s just north of Route 50 at the intersection with Loudoun County Parkway.

It’s been a long time coming. The Burn first reported that Chipotle was apparently considering the spot way back in March 2022.

Last week, we spotted some earth moving machinery parked at the site and figured work was about to get underway. Now, that has happened.

Right now, the crews are doing what’s often called “site work.” This is when they clear the land, grade it, and put in any underground conduits, pipes and sewers. A chain link fence now surrounds the property.

Once the site work is complete, the parcel will be turned over to Chipotle’s construction crews who will build the restaurant on the site.

No word on how long that might take — but after more than two years — local Chipotle fans can breathe a sigh of relief that it’s really happening.
