Soup and sandwich shop Zoup! closes in Sterling

After nearly eight years in business, Zoup! — a fast casual soup-centric restaurant — has closed its doors in Sterling.

Zoup! opened in 2016 in the Cascades Overlook retail development. That’s the same center with the Chuy’s Tex-Mex resturant, the Fireworks Pizza, and the Choolaah Indian restaurant, among others.

A sign on the door of the roughly 1,800 s.f. space shares the bad news with customers. “We regret to inform you that we have permanently closed our doors,” it reads in part. “We appreciate your support for the past 8 years and hope that we have served you well during this time.”

The move comes at an interesting time for the brand. The Zoup! name is being phased out and the company’s roughly 45+ locations will be transitioning to a new name and concept — Z!Eats.

Z!Eats will still have soup and sandwiches on the menu, but the focus will shift to additional menu items such as grain bowls, flatbreads, and salads.

One other thing to note — the Google listing for the Sterling Zoup! says “Temporarily Closed” versus “Permanently Closed.” Is it possible that some new owner will come in and re-open the store as a Z!Eats? That’s pure speculation on our part, but time will tell.
