As the various team trials wrap up, the US Olympic team is starting to gel — and so far, at least two women from Loudoun County have made the cut.
Last night, Weini Kelati won the Women’s 10,000 meters race at the US Olympic Track & Field Team Trials and will represent America in Paris.
Kelati is originally from Eritrea and came to the U.S. in 2014. She became a citizen and claims Leesburg as her home town. She ran track for Heritage High School.
While there, she won the Virginia State Cross Country Championship among other victories.

Meanwhile, Emily Fox has been named to the U.S. Olympic women’s soccer team. Fox grew up in Ashburn and played for Stone Bridge High School.
She went on to play collegiate soccer before going pro. She currently plays for Arsenal in Great Britain.
