(UPDATED with new information from Rutter’s)
This is a bit far afield from here in the immediate DC suburbs, but a new gas station and convenience store brand is planning its first location in the state west of Loudoun County.
It’s called Rutter’s and you may have encountered it while traveling through Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. It has more than 80 stores across those states.
The brand had previously announced plans to move into Virginia and now we know the first one will be coming to Winchester.
The Burn has long had an interest in the growing trend towards convenience stores that double as fast-food restaurants. Wawa, The Filling Co., Royal Farms, Dash-In, and Sheetz are all examples we have locally.
Rutter’s follows the same formula offering a menu that includes breakfast sandwiches, burgers, sandwiches, chicken strips, pizza, tacos, salads, and more.
The folks at Rutter’s tell us the new location is at Route 50 and Cloverstone Drive. Besides the food menu, it will have all the usual c-store items, plus a beer cave and a large wine selection.

Right now, there are no other Virginia locations in the works, but they are actively looking at additional sites to expand to in the future.
Meanwhile, they expect to open the Winchester store in the summer of 2025 if all goes smoothly.
