New details about Cedar Terrace at South Riding retail center

It’s been quite a while since we had an update on the Cedar Terrace at South Riding project — and while there are no major announcements yet that we know of, the landlord has started to market the new retail center.

Longtime readers will remember that Cedar Terrace is a planned project set to go up near the intersection of Loudoun County Parkway and Highway 50. (You can see more details in our previous report here.)

It will be built adjacent to the South Riding Market Square shopping plaza and a road will connect the two centers.

Among the details in the marketing materials — there are sites for two drive-thru restaurants as well as a site that could be used for a daycare or even a hotel.

And then there is room for multiple additional retail buildings that could offer another roughly 100,000 s.f. to 160,000+ s.f. for restaurants and retail. You can see this all on the diagram below.

All total it will be an estimated 220,000 s.f. of commercial development. So far, no tenants for the future retail center have been announced.

The plans also call for a residential portion of Cedar Terrace with some 350 units. The whole thing will be integrated into a pedestrian friendly community that will provide a link between the Giant-anchored South Riding Market Square and the slowing developing Avonlea project to the west.
