It looks like the Ashburn restaurant Sense of Thai will be growing once again — as word comes that two more locations are in the works in the greater Washington area.
The first Sense of Thai opened at One Loudoun in Ashburn back in 2015. It was a big hit — well-known both for its Thai food and its craft cocktails.
As regular readers know, a second Sense of Thai location is under construction in the South Riding Market Square shopping center. Sense is taking the space vacated by Ford’s Fish Shack.
We previewed what the location will look like recently and an opening date could be announced any time now.
Meanwhile, The Burn has learned that a third Sense of Thai is being planned for Bethesda, Md. sometime in the spring of 2025. And then a fourth Sense of Thai is in the works for Reston in 2026.
That location is expected to open in the Reston Station Midline project, a mixed use development opening near the Wiehle Avenue exit from 267 and the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.
We’ve reached out to management for more details on their expansion plans, but haven’t heard back yet.
One other note — the full name of the restaurant has long been Sense of Thai St (as in street) — but it looks like the brand may be phasing the “street” out of the name since no one calls it that anyway. The logo has been altered in some places to reflect this change.
Sense of Thai is part of the larger Pattana restaurant group which also operates restaurants under the brands Tiki Thai, Don Khao, Thai, and the future Bird’s Eye Thai.
