Another local athlete is headed to Paris and the upcoming 2024 Olympics later this month. Kevin Paredes, who hails from South Riding, has been named to the U.S. men’s soccer team.
Paredes spent several years with the MLS’s DC United FC and briefly played for Loudoun United FC, which calls Segra Field in Leesburg its home field. He currently plays for VfL Wolfsburg in Germany.
The 21 year-old joins at least two other area athletes headed to Paris. This includes runner Weini Kelati of Leesburg who will compete in the women’s 10,000m race; and soccer player Emily Fox of Ashburn, who is on the U.S.’s women’s soccer team.
The Opening Ceremonies for the 2024 Olympic Games are scheduled for Friday, July 26.
