Work starts on Loudoun’s new Wingstop restaurant

Work has officially started on the location that will become Loudoun County’s second Wingstop restaurant. The spot is in the Battlefield Shopping Center in Leesburg.

The Burn first reported the news back in January. Wingstop — a national chicken wing and chicken sandwich chain — had signed a lease for an 1,800 s.f. space.

That space used to be home to the Sweetz Bakery, which closed back in June 2023.

Right now, it’s the demo work that’s underway. That’s when crews come in and basically strip the space down to the proverbial studs — removing anything left over from the previous tenant that is no longer needed.

The space in Leesburg that will become the future Wingstop restaurant.

Then the Wingstop construction team will come in and “build out” the location for the new restaurant.

There is already a Wingstop location in Sterling at 21430 Cedar Drive. There are more than 1,400 locations around the world.

The Battlefield Shopping Center where Wingstop is going has landed a slew of new tenants lately.

Other businesses coming include a Burlington store (formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory), a Petco, a Boot Barn, and a Sprouts supermarket.
