Commanders sign Ashburn’s Trace McSorley

Big news for fans of Ashburn’s hometown hero Trace McSorley. The Briar Woods High School graduate and star quarterback on the football team has been signed by the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders made the announcement Thursday afternoon. McSorley joins a team with a roster of quarterbacks that includes No. 2 overall draft pick Jayden Daniels.

After high school, McSorley went on to play for Penn State and then was a sixth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. He has subsequently played for the Arizona Cardinals.

He’s also done stints with the New England Patriots, the Chicago Bears, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

During his time with the Commanders, he will likely be taking snaps right here in Ashburn over at the famous “bubble” off Loudoun County Parkway where the team trains.
