New Peter Chang Herndon restaurant opens next week

A new restaurant from well-known local chef Peter Chang should open its doors this coming week. That’s according to the team at the new Peter Chang Herndon.

Peter Chang Herndon is opening in the Arrowbrook Centre, a residential community with a small retail center just south of 267 at Exit 10 off Centreville Road.

That’s the same center with the Paris Baguette restaurant, the recently opened Hello 2 India grocery store, and the upcoming Kyuramen restaurant.

When The Burn stopped by, the big Peter Chang sign was mounted over the doorway and finishing touches were being done to the dining room.

An official announcement that went out this week said the opening was scheduled for Saturday, September 28, but a manager we spoke with said they plan to open this coming Thursday — September 26. Take that for what you will.

Chang — who was previously the head chef at the Chinese embassy in DC — now has a string of restaurants around Virginia and the DMV. And he has said that he is planning more.

“Built on the experience, lessons and successes of his previous restaurants, Peter Chang Herndon offers a wide variety of dishes: from tapas-style small dishes for trying out new things to large centerpiece dishes meant to wow a whole group and from brunch time dim sum for a family gathering to evening take-outs and deliveries for friends just hanging out,” the restaurant’s website reads.

The signature dish at Peter Chang Herndon is his famous Peking Duck. There are also fun sounding menu items such as Numbing Green Peppercorn Flounder, Peter’s Beef Delights in Jar, and Szechuan Popcorn Chicken.

There are also vegetarian dishes, soups, and more. You can see the full Peter Chang Herndon menu below.
