Dill Dinkers Pickleball serving up new spot in Chantilly

A new indoor pickleball facility will open its second Northern Virginia location in Chantilly, off Highway 50. It goes by the whimsical name Dill Dinkers Pickleball.

“Dinking” is a pickleball term for a soft, controlled shot where the ball is tapped lightly over the net.

Dill Dinkers will be taking a roughly 30,000 s.f. spot in the Sully Place Shopping Center. That’s on the north side of 50, just a few blocks east of State Road 28.

As the sport of pickleball takes off around the country, we are seeing more and more empty big box stores and vacant retail spaces being turned into indoor pickleball facilities — if the ceilings are high enough. That’s the key.

Dill Dinkers has a dozen or so stores open or in the works — mostly here along the east coast. The brand’s first location locally opened in June in Manassas.

The Chantilly deal for Dill Dinkers is brand new — so no word yet on when the new venue will open.

Other large pickleball facilities in the area include Pickleballerz — also near Highway 50 in Chantilly, as well as Village Pickle at the Village at Leesburg center off Route 7.
