Our investigative work was correct — a vacant bank building in Sterling is indeed being eyed as a new Taco Bell location — if the permitting all goes through.
Back in April, The Burn reported that there were plans to turn the former Sandy Spring Bank building at 46901 Cedar Lake Plaza into a drive-thru restaurant.
That’s in a small strip retail center located on the north side of Route 7 at the intersection with Cedar Drive.
While we couldn’t be certain at the time, there were clues online that the proposed restaurant would be a Taco Bell.

Now, we have confirmed that portion of the news. The developers have filed paperwork with Loudoun County showing that Taco Bell is the brand they hope to bring to the center.
Right now, it appears they are still working on getting a special exception passed for their project — so no word yet if it’s definitely going to come to fruition or not. Stay tuned.
