Area gamers interested in the growing world of virtual reality may be in luck — a new virtual reality — or VR — experience may be coming to the Dulles Town Center shopping mall in Loudoun County.
The brand is called Zero Latency VR. They are reportedly in talks to take a 4,000 s.f. space inside the mall. Last we heard, the deal wasn’t quite finalized, so keep your fingers crossed.
Zero Latency VR is an international brand with locations around the world including such far flung places as Australia, Ireland, Kuwait, and French Guiana.
Here in the United States, there are more than two dozen locations in 11 states. The closest one to Northern Virginia is near Baltimore in Owings Mills, Maryland.
If the deal goes through, it appears the Zero Latency VR in Loudoun would be the first one in Virginia.
If you are new to the idea of VR, basically you wear headset that covers your eyes and you see a computer generated world. In a larger venue such as Zero Latency, you can actually walk around and interact with the virtual world.
Picture it like you are stepping into a video game.
Here is how the Zero Latency VR website describes the experience: “Get ready to meet another side of you as you enter unimaginable realities. From wandering in family-friendly puzzling worlds to facing hordes of not-so-friendly zombies, it’s time to awaken what’s within. Imagine entering an arena the size of a tennis court where you can run free – and wild. Look at the horizon, wander around, feel totally immersed in new universes. All with no cables, wires, uncomfortable suits or backpacks.”
