Sakura — a longtime Japanese steakhouse in Leesburg — closed its doors for the final time over the weekend.
“Dear valuable customers, we are saddened to say that Oct. 13 is our final service date,” a note on the front door reads. “We will be closed permanently the day after. Thank you for your patronage and the memories we have shared together.”

Sakura was located in the Fort Evans Plaza II shopping center, near the intersection of Fort Evans Road NE and Battlefield Parkway NE.
That’s the same center with the Buffalo Wild Wings, the Bkd Bagels, the HomeGoods, and the soon-to-open Trader Joe’s.
Information found online says the Leesburg Sakura first opened in early 2015.

The closure isn’t really a surprise. There have been rumors circulating that the restaurant’s days were numbered for several months now.
Sakura is part of a regional chain. According to the brand’s website, there are 11 Sakura locations in Maryland and three more still open here in Northern Virginia.
