Sneak preview of Loudoun’s new Reservoir Park

Loudoun County’s new Reservoir Park is scheduled to open next Monday — October 21 — and The Burn has your first look at the new attraction on the south shore of the Beaverdam Reservoir.

We took a sneak peek walking tour of the park today.

Reservoir Park can be found behind the baseball fields at the intersection of Belmont Ridge Road and Northstar Drive.

Visitors will enter the park along a winding road known as Water Vista Drive and arrive at a large parking area and a Welcome Center.

From there, paths stretch out to four separate picnic pavilions: the Broad Run Pavilion, the Goose Creek Pavilion, the Milestone Pavilion, and the Potomac Pavilion.

Heading directly towards the water, park-goers will reach the Central Pier area, which includes a Boat Launch and a Boat Rental building. Note: only non-gas boats — such as canoes and kayaks — are allowed on the reservoir.

To the right of the Central Pier area, there is a large Crew Facility with docks. This is for the use of area rowing teams that hold practices on the Beaverdam Reservoir. There is also a Crew Overlook Pier nearby.

Winding through the park, there are several different walking paths as well as a Bike Path, plus a Bridge — that all connect to a network of paths the go all the way around the reservoir.

You can see all these locations on the official Reservoir Park map below. We’ve also included additional information about the park below as well.

The park formally opens Monday. “Beginning at noon, the public will have access to the park, including picnic pavilions, hiking, fishing, boat launch and interpretive exhibits,” the announcement from NOVA Parks reads.

Reservoir Park is a joint project between NOVA Parks and the Loudoun Water.
