El Pitayo Mexican Restaurant coming soon to Lovettsville

(UPDATED) A new Mexican restaurant in Lovettsville is approaching the finish line as they get ready to open their doors. We’re talking about the long-awaited El Pitayo Mexican Restaurant.

The Burn first reported on El Pitayo more than a year ago — back in the summer of 2023. The restaurant is coming to the Town Commons development at 5 Town Center Drive.

That’s the same center with the Lovettsville Co-Op Market and the Train to Mumbai Indian restaurant.

According to its nascent website, El Pitayo is “a family-owned Mexican restaurant hailing from Jalisco, Mexico, proud to bring its authentic flavors to Lovettsville” and that they are “specializing in mouthwatering salsas, refreshing margaritas, and a wide array of traditional Mexican dishes.”

They are playing up their lunch menu — featuring dishes such as Huevos con Chorizo, Enchiladas Suizas, and the Speedy Gonzalez, which is a ground beef enchilada accompanied by a taco.

On the full dinner menu, there are quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, salads, and more.

Specialties of the house include the Ala Mexicana Steak, a Bistec con Camarón, and the classic Arroz con Pollo. You can see the lunch and menus in their entirety below.

In case you were wondering, “el pitayo” is a Spanish word for the organ pipe cactus, a common sight in Mexico.

No official word yet on when El Pitayo will open. We’ve got messages in to the management — so stay tuned.
