A barbecue restaurant that first opened in Loudoun County back during the pandemic has quietly closed its doors for good.
We’re talking about Black Hog Damn Good BBQ, which originally opened in Ashburn in January 2021.
It was located in the Riverside Commons shopping plaza off Riverside Parkway on the northside of Route 7.
That’s the same center with the Texas Roadhouse restaurant and a Sheetz gas station and convenience store.
A sign on the door reads, in part: “It pains me to announce the closing of this location,” and is signed by Mike Tauraso, the owner of the chain.
The brand has four locations in Maryland, according to its website. Ashburn was the only one in Virginia.
No word on why Black Hog closed — a common reason a restaurant closes is that business just wasn’t as robust as it needed to be to make the numbers work, but that’s just one possibility.
We will have to wait and see what future tenant takes the Black Hog BBQ spot.
And plans still call for additional retail buildings to be built in the center — including a proposed drive-thru restaurant. But no word on if or when those projects will move forward.
