New renderings have been released showing a proposed major makeover at the Capital One Arena in DC. The changes would impact both visitors to the arena and the teams that play there.

The plans call for a full redesign of entrances and exits, wider concourses, more elevators and escalators, and even 30 percent more restrooms.

There would be 65 percent more concession space and a litany of new food and beverage offerings.

There would also be new state-of-the-art facilities at Capital One Arena for the teams that play there as well as the families of the athletes.

The plans are part of an agreement between the District and Monumental Sports and Entertainment, the company that owns the arena and as well as the Washington Capitals, the Washington Wizards, and the Washington Mystics.

The plan calls for Monumental to sell the arena to the city for $87.5 million and then the company would then lease it back and operate it. The proposal has to be approved by the DC Council.
