Well, that didn’t take long. The Red Robin restaurant in Ashburn only closed in August and a new tenant has already taken over the building.
The Burn has learned that Biryani Grill — which already has one restaurant in Loudoun in the Stone Ridge Village Center off Route 50 — is opening a second store at the Red Robin location.
We knew the team at Biryani Grill was looking for an Ashburn spot — and now we know where they have landed.
The building is located behind the Shoppes at Ryan Park shopping center and next door to the Chick-fil-A.
Painters have already given the restaurant a new look — it’s a bit startling for folks used to the Red Robin colors. And work is underway inside the space.
Biryani Grill’s signature dishes include a garlic naan and their Chicken dum Biryani, which is bone-in chicken marinated in spices and then cooked on a low heat with basmati rice.
Other items on the menu include a Chili Shrimp — spiced shrimp deep fried and sautéed with green peppers and soy sauce; Spinach Pakoda — spinach fritters made with fresh spinach leaves, gram flour, spices and herbs; and The Burn’s personal favorite dish — Chicken Korma — a traditional Mughlai dish where chicken is cooked with spices, onion paste, yogurt and nuts.
The Biryani Grill team says they will be adding a few new dishes to the Ashburn menu and also will have some American fusion type items on the bar menu.
No official opening date yet, but they are shooting for sometime in December.
