SweatHouz bringing cold plunges, saunas to Reston

A new infrared sauna and cold plunge studio has signed on for a location at a Reston retail center — as the brand expands its footprint locally and nationally.

The company’s name is SweatHouz — and it’s opening a studio in the RTC West center off Sunset Hills Road. RTC West is short for Reston Town Center West as its part of the overall RTC development.

RTC West is the same spot with the Cooper’s Hawk restaurant, the Mezeh Mediterranean Grill, the Tiki Thai restaurant, and the new Kook Dogg Cafe.

When SweatHouz opens there, it will offer an infrared sauna with chromotherapy — where visitors are exposed to different colors of light.

There are also cold plunge basins where guests spend a few minutes in water chilled between 48 and 55 degrees, which purportedly offers a variety of health benefits including pain relief and reduced inflammation.

SweatHouz already has locations open or in the works in 24 states plus DC. There are two here in Northern Virginia — in Ballston and at the Mosaic District in Fairfax.

Besides Reston, another one is coming to National Landing in Arlington.

Boutique studios offering cold plunges, saunas, breathing exercises, and similar services are apparently on the rise.

As The Burn has reported, a small brand called MINDZERO is expanding into Northern Virginia as well with a new location at the Village at Leesburg center.
