Well, that didn’t take long. It was just yesterday — Saturday, November 30 — that we reported that the Good Fortune Chinese restaurant in Ashburn had mysteriously closed its doors — but with no clear word whether it was temporary or permanent.
Now, we have our answer. The restaurant — located on Truro Parish Drive — announced today that the closure is indeed permanent.
“We regret to announce that Good Fortune will be permanently closing its doors,” the restaurant’s management posted in a message on social media. “This decision was not made lightly, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your loyalty and support over last 16 years.”
The restaurant had been over in the Ashburn Farm community for many years before moving to the latest location in 2017.
As The Burn had reported, a sign on the door initially said the Good Fortune team was just taking a break. But that sign disappeared and the restaurant remained closed.
The online ordering system was also accidentally left on, and the restaurant says they will make sure refunds are issued.
“Unfortunately, the online ordering company did not promptly close our backend system, which may have led to confusion or unintentional orders,” the message read. “If you have placed an order online recently, please rest assured that refunds will be processed through the online platform and should reflect in your account within a few days.”
For locals in Ashburn keeping tabs on this tiny retail center, that’s two restaurants that have closed almost simultaneously.
Besides the departure of Good Fortune, the Neighbors Sports Bar & Grill also appears to have given up the ghost.
