The Middle Eastern coffee shop craze continues to expand in Northern Virginia with a new shop in the works for Sterling in Loudoun County.
The Burn has learned that the Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. — more simply known as Qamaria Coffee — has signed a deal for the Shoppes at Potomac Corner.
That’s the small retail center at the intersection of Route 7 and Potomac View Road. Other tenants there include the SoulakiBar Greek restaurant, YamaChen’s Sushi House, the TeaDM Street Food Lounge, and a Marco’s Pizza.
This will be the second location in Northern Virginia for the coffee brand. They opened a cafe over in Vienna this past summer.
.The coffee beans used at Qamaria are all sourced from Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula.
The menu includes all the usual hot and iced espresso and cappuccino type drinks, as well as Yemeni specialities such as Mufawaar, a blend of medium roast coffee with cardamom and cream; and the Sheeba, a traditional drink made from spiced coffee husks and infused with ginger and cinnamon.
There are also smoothies, baked goods, and more. You can see the Qamaria menu from the Vienna location here.
The owners of the new Sterling location are all Northern Virginia natives and and they tell The Burn that their goal is for the coffee shop to a be a community space, where local residents can gather and enjoy good quality coffee and pastries.
Middle Eastern coffee shops are all the rage in Northern Virginia right now. Besides Qamaria, a Saudi-inspired Shotted coffee shop recently opened in the Dulles Town Center mall in Sterling. Shotted also has a location over in Tysons.
Meanwhile, Filli Cafe — a coffee house brand from the United Arab Emirates — is working on its first location in Chantilly off Route 50.
