Ashburn’s Wicket Door Pub shuts down for good

The doors at the Wicket Door Pub in Ashburn are no longer open. Wednesday morning, the restaurant announced that it was closing for good.

The surprise announcement — including the poignant photo of the vacant dining room above — came from the owners via social media.

“We are saddened to say that at this time, Wicket Door Pub is closing its doors,” the message read. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing us to be part of your community for the past 5 years. We deeply appreciate our loyal guests. You made our dream an absolute pleasure. We have loved being able to serve you and wish you all the best.”

The pub opened in December 2019 in the University Commerce Center.

That’s the retail and office center off George Washington Boulevard north of Route 7 where Taco Zocalo, the Fountain Grill, and the Potomac Taphouse are located, among many other businesses.

Wicket Door had a loyal following so this will be sad news for many in the community. No reason for the closure was given.
