Black Walnut Brewery closes in Leesburg, hotel next door grows

The Black Walnut Brewery — housed in a quaint old house in Leesburg — closed recently and a new hotel project is taking over the property.

The Burn told readers about the Hotel Burg and the Huntōn restaurant coming to 208 South King Street back in early October. You can see our report with all the details here.

Now we have learned that the hotel developers are taking over the yellow house next door at 212 South King and will be incorporating that into their project.

212 South King is the former home of Black Walnut, which closed in the past month or so.

We’re told the owners of Black Walnut — which opened in 2016 — were looking for an exit and the team building the hotel jumped at the opportunity to add more rooms to the plans.

The yellow house that housed the brewery will be preserved, but behind it, a building with additional hotel rooms will be built, and behind that, another building which will have six residential condos in it is planned.

The addition is visible in the rendering above, with the main portion of the Hotel Burg project above it in the image.
