A new sports-centric social club centered around golf simulators and similar high-tech games is in the works for Loudoun County.
It’s called Play the Par Social Club and it’s coming to Leesburg’s Virginia Village retail center off Catoctin Circle SE.
Play the Par will take over the space vacated with Tap In Leesburg closed over the summer.
Regular readers may recall that Tap In was also a sporting venue similar to what Play the Par is planning.
The club will offer seven golf simulators where golfers could play rounds on computerized versions of courses around the world — actually teeing off and driving a ball into a huge projection screen that simulates the path of the ball to the green.
But Play the Par also has other interesting options in the works too.
“We will not only have seven top of the line Trackman golf simulators, but also two of the bays will have multi-sport arcades where people can do a home run derby, find out how fast they can pitch, play dodge ball, cornhole, hockey and even Old West shootouts,” the management team told us in a message. “We will also be hosting video game tournaments as well as have all major sport packages for our guests to watch.”
Rick Allison from the King Street Oyster Bar is helping create the food menu for the social club and Ian Purcell from from MurLarkey Distilled Spirits in Bristow is helping with the bar set-up and cocktail creations.
If all stays on track, Play the Par is aiming to start doing private events and perhaps a soft opening in January, with a grand opening being planned for March.
Also, some area residents may be wondering about the location in the Virginia Village center, as that center is supposed to be razed and a new modern residential and commercial center built on the site.
We’re told that’s true — but it is the western half of the center that will come down first. It’s already boarded up and ready for the wrecking ball.
However, the eastern half of Virginia Village where Play the Par will be — along with many other businesses — is reportedly going to remain for some time to come.
