Breaking News: Big Greek Cafe taking over all SouvlakiBar locations

Some big news for folks who enjoy Greek food in Northern Virginia. Today it was announced that all four SouvlakiBar restaurant locations will be closing this week — and another Greek chain is taking them over.

SouvlakiBar is a local brand founded in 2016 with four locations in the region — one each in Leesburg, Sterling, Oakton, and Alexandria.

The restaurants are well-known for their delicious chicken, pork, lamb, and other souvlaki wraps loaded with tomatoes, onions, French fries, and sauce.

But according to today’s announcement — all four SouvlakiBar locations will close this weekend. Saturday, December 21 is the final day.

And all four locations will soon be turned into locations of The Big Greek Cafe, a Maryland-based brand that currently has nine locations there.

The announcement says the menu at The Big Greek Cafe is more extensive than at SouvlakiBar. It includes like Avgolemono Soup, Fried Calamari, and Dolmades.

There are salads, sandwiches — including souvlaki pitas and gyro pitas — as well as lamb chops, grilled salmon, and more. You can see the full menu for The Big Greek Cafe below.

The takeover of SouvlakiBar will give The Big Greek Cafe a fast-track to a strong presence in NoVa.

The announcement didn’t say when the new Big Greek Cafes would open — just telling fans the same expressions The Burn frequently uses — “stay tuned.”
