A ribbon cutting ceremony was held today to formally open the extension of Northstar Boulevard from Evergreen Mill Road south to Route 50.
Various government and community leaders turned out for speeches before officially opening the long-anticipated roadway.

The extension will provide another major north-south road in the community to go along with Loudoun County Parkway to the east. Many other north-south roads in the vicinity are two-lane roads.
It will be interesting to see the impact this has on area businesses. A small retail center known as the Brambleton Corner Plaza has sat at the dead-end of Northstar for several years now.
Businesses there include a CVS pharmacy, a Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and a Filling Co. gas station and convenience store.
Meanwhile, there are vacant pads at the site where future businesses have been proposed, including a fast-food restaurant and an automotive repair shop.
An increase in traffic past the center could be the needed impetus for more businesses to consider locating there.
